narrated that Kulthum Al-Khuza’i said: “A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, how can I know, when I have done something good, that I have done well, and if I have done something bad, that I have done a bad deed?’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘If your neighbors say that you have done something good, then you have done well, and if they say that you have done something bad, then you have done something bad.’”
“ إِذَا قَالَ جِيرَانُكَ إِنَّكَ قَدْ أَحْسَنْتَ فَقَدْ أَحْسَنْتَ وَإِذَا قَالُوا إِنَّكَ قَدْ أَسَأْتَ فَقَدْ أَسَأْتَ ” .

The above hadith is from the Sunan Ibn Majah collection of hadiths. The Sunan Ibn Majah holds a significant place as one of the six major books of hadith in Sunni Islamic tradition. Its compiler, Ibn Majah, completed this work in the 9th century, with his death occurring in 886 CE. The collection is extensive, featuring around 4,000 hadiths that provide guidance on diverse themes. Although it is a respected compilation, it is generally accorded a lower rank in terms of overall authenticity when compared to the other five collections.
