The dua for anxiety and stress (also spelled du’a) is highly recommended to say when feeling worried or distressed. This powerful supplication comes from the daily Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ and offers comfort and spiritual relief during hard times. By turning to Allah through this dua, believers seek inner peace, strength, and reassurance, trusting His mercy and support. Adding this dua to your routine helps calm the heart and mind. It reminds you that no hardship is too great when you place it in Allah’s care.

O Allah, I am Your slave, and the son of Your male slave, and the son of your female slave. My forehead is in Your Hand (i.e. you have control over me). Your Judgment upon me is assured, and Your Decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every Name that You have named Yourself with, revealed in Your Book, taught any one of Your creation, or kept unto Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen that is with You, to make the Qur’an the spring of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the reliever of my distress.

Allāhumma innī abduk, ibnu abdik, ibnu amatik, nāsiyatī biyadik, māḍin fiyya ḥukmuk, adlun fiyya qaḍā’uk, as’aluka bikullis’min huwa lak, sammayta bihi nafsak, aw anzaltahu fī kitābik, aw allamtahu aḥadan min khalqik, aw‘ista’tharta bihi fī ilmil-ghaybi indak, an tajala ‘l-Qur’āna rabīa qalbī, wa nūra ṣadrī, wa jalā’a ḥuznī, wa dhahāba hammī.

In Islam, supplication (known as du’a) is a personal and direct form of communication between a believer and Allah (God). It is an act of worship that expresses a Muslim’s humility, need, and trust in their Creator. Unlike the formal five daily prayers, which follow a specific structure, supplications (du’a) can be made at any time and in any language, although many are rooted in Arabic and drawn from the Qur’an and Hadith.

Muslims use du’a to seek guidance, forgiveness, help in times of difficulty, or simply to express gratitude. One important form is the dua for anxiety and stress, a heartfelt prayer that believers recite to find comfort, strength, and relief during moments of worry and stress. Supplication reflects the essence of a believer’s relationship with God: intimate, sincere, and rooted in faith. It serves as a reminder of God’s closeness and mercy, reinforcing the Islamic belief that no request is too small or too great for Allah’s attention.
