These dua for adhan (also spelled du’a) are recommended to say during specific points of the call to prayer. This supplication is part of the daily Sunnah. It helps Muslims prepare spiritually for worship.

Dua 1 (dua for adhan)

Repeat what the Mu’adh-dhin says, except for when he says: Hayya ‘alas-Salāh (hasten to the prayer) and Hayya ‘alal-Falāh (hasten to salvation). Here you should say:

There is no might and no power except by Allah.

Lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata ‘illā billāh.

لا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله.

Al-Bukhari 1/152, Muslim 1/288.

Hisnul Muslim 22

Dua 2

To be recited in Arabic after the mu’adh-dhin’s tashahhud or the words of affirmation of Faith (Ashhadu an lā ilāha illallāh) [Ibn Khuzaymah 1/220].

I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, Who has no partner, and that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger. I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Muhammad as my Messenger and with Islam as my religion.

Wa ‘anā ‘ash-hadu ‘an lā ‘ilāha ‘illallāhuwaḥdahu lā sharīka lahuwa ‘anna Muḥammadan ‘abduhu wa rasūluhu. raḍītu billāhi rabban. wa bi Muḥammadin rasūlanwa bi ‘l-islāmi dīnan.

Muslim 1/290.

Dua 3

To be recited in Arabic after the Adhan.

O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and established prayer. Grant Muhammad the intercession and favor, and raise him to the honored station You have promised him, [verily You do not neglect promises].

In Islam, supplication, or du’a, is a personal and direct communication between a believer and Allah (God). It expresses a Muslim’s humility, need, and trust in their Creator. Unlike the formal five daily prayers with fixed structure, du’as can be made anytime and in any language. Many du’as come from Arabic and are drawn from the Qur’an and Hadith.

Muslims use du’a to seek guidance, forgiveness, help during difficulty, or to express gratitude. Some moments hold special significance for du’a, such as the adhan (call to prayer). Saying the dua for adhan when hearing the call deepens spiritual connection and readiness for worship. Supplication reflects a believer’s intimate, sincere relationship with God. It also reminds us of Allah’s closeness and mercy, reinforcing that no request is too small or too great for Him.
