Which Surah was named after a woman?

The only Surah in the Quran named solely after a woman is Surah Maryam (Chapter 19). This chapter beautifully recounts the story of Maryam (Mary), the mother of Prophet Isa (Jesus), peace be upon them both.

Where does Surah Maryam mention her story?

The core narrative appears in Surah Maryam, verses 16-34. These verses detail her piety, the miraculous annunciation, the birth of Prophet Isa (AS), and her return to her people. Withdrawing to seclusion, she received the angel Jibril’s (Gabriel) announcement of a miraculous, chaste conception through Allah’s command “Be!” (Kun!). Facing childbirth alone beneath a palm tree, Allah provided her with water and dates. Returning to her people carrying her infant son, Isa (Jesus), she faced shocking accusations. Miraculously, the newborn infant Isa (AS) spoke, declaring his prophethood and confirming his mother’s unwavering piety and purity before Allah, showcasing a divine miracle. (Peace be upon them both).
