Sunan an-Nasa’i: Book 46, Hadith 21

It was narrated from Nafi that: a woman used to borrow jewelry during the time of the Messenger of Allah. She borrowed some jewelry, collected it and kept it. The Messenger of Allah said: “Let this woman repent and give back what she has,” several times, but she did not do that, so he ordered that her hand be cut off.

Sunan an-Nasa’i: Book 46, Hadith 21

The above hadith is from the Sunan an-Nasa’i collection of hadiths. Ahmad ibn Shu’ayb al-Nasa’i, a master of hadith sciences, gifted the Muslim world with his seminal work, the Sunan an-Nasa’i, in the 9th century. This compilation is rightfully counted among the Kutub al-Sittah, the six books that are essential for any serious study of Sunni Islam. The text itself contains a vast repository of more than 5,700 hadiths, all focused on the documented words and deeds of the Prophet. The compiler’s renowned rigorous methodology ensured that only the most authentic reports were included, with weak or spurious narrations being systematically excluded. This scrupulous approach has earned the collection widespread acclaim as a model of authenticity.
