Sunan an-Nasa’i: Book 17, Hadith 3

It was narrated from Hisham bin Ishaq bin Abdullah bin Kinanah that : His father said: “So and so sent me to ask him how the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prayed for rain (Istisqa’).” He said: ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went out beseeching and humble, (dressed) in a state of humility. He did not give a Khutbah like this Khutbah of yours, and he prayed two rak’ahs.'”

Sunan an-Nasa’i: Book 17, Hadith 3

The above hadith is from the Sunan an-Nasa’i collection of hadiths. Ahmad ibn Shu’ayb al-Nasa’i, a master of hadith sciences, gifted the Muslim world with his seminal work, the Sunan an-Nasa’i, in the 9th century. This compilation is rightfully counted among the Kutub al-Sittah, the six books that are essential for any serious study of Sunni Islam. The text itself contains a vast repository of more than 5,700 hadiths, all focused on the documented words and deeds of the Prophet. The compiler’s renowned rigorous methodology ensured that only the most authentic reports were included, with weak or spurious narrations being systematically excluded. This scrupulous approach has earned the collection widespread acclaim as a model of authenticity.
