Sunan an-Nasa’i: Book 11, Hadith 2

It was narrated that Ibn Umar said: “I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), when he stood to pray, raise his hands until they were in level with his shoulders, then he said the takbir. He did that when he said the Takbir before bowing, and he did that when he raised his head from bowing and said: ‘Sami Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears those who praise Him).’ Bu he did not do that during the prostration.”

Sunan an-Nasa’i: Book 11, Hadith 2

The above hadith is from the Sunan an-Nasa’i collection of hadiths. Ahmad ibn Shu’ayb al-Nasa’i, a master of hadith sciences, gifted the Muslim world with his seminal work, the Sunan an-Nasa’i, in the 9th century. This compilation is rightfully counted among the Kutub al-Sittah, the six books that are essential for any serious study of Sunni Islam. The text itself contains a vast repository of more than 5,700 hadiths, all focused on the documented words and deeds of the Prophet. The compiler’s renowned rigorous methodology ensured that only the most authentic reports were included, with weak or spurious narrations being systematically excluded. This scrupulous approach has earned the collection widespread acclaim as a model of authenticity.
