Sunan Abi Dawud: Book 24, Hadith 117

Narrated ‘Aishah: Hind, the mother of Mu’awiyah, came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: ‘Abu Sufyan is a stingy person. He does not give me as much (money) as suffices me and my children. Is there any harm to me if I take something from his property ? He said: Take as much as suffices you and your children according to the custom.

Sunan Abi Dawud: Book 24, Hadith 117

Sunan Abi Dawud is one of the six major hadith collections in Sunni Islam, compiled by the Islamic scholar Abu Dawud al-Sijistani (817–889 CE). It is a comprehensive collection of sayings, actions, and approvals of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that covers various aspects of Islamic jurisprudence, ethics, and social conduct. The collection contains over 4,800 hadiths, arranged into books that focus on topics such as prayer, purification, fasting, zakat (charity), marriage, and justice. While it is considered highly authoritative, Sunan Abi Dawud includes a critical methodology in selecting hadiths, prioritizing those that are authentic and reliable.
