Sunan Abi Dawud: Book 12, Hadith 38

Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu’minin: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: The marriage of a woman who marries without the consent of her guardians is void. (He said these words) three times. If there is cohabitation, she gets her dower for the intercourse her husband has had. If there is a dispute, the sultan (man in authority) is the guardian of one who has none.

Sunan Abi Dawud: Book 12, Hadith 38

Sunan Abi Dawud is one of the six major hadith collections in Sunni Islam, compiled by the Islamic scholar Abu Dawud al-Sijistani (817–889 CE). It is a comprehensive collection of sayings, actions, and approvals of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that covers various aspects of Islamic jurisprudence, ethics, and social conduct. The collection contains over 4,800 hadiths, arranged into books that focus on topics such as prayer, purification, fasting, zakat (charity), marriage, and justice. While it is considered highly authoritative, Sunan Abi Dawud includes a critical methodology in selecting hadiths, prioritizing those that are authentic and reliable.
