Sahih Muslim: Book 9, Hadith 12

This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Anas but with this addition: ” Allah gathered the clouds and as we (were obliged) to stay back I saw that even the strong man, impelled by a desire to go to his family, (could not do so).”

وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، بِنَحْوِهِ وَزَادَ فَأَلَّفَ اللَّهُ بَيْنَ السَّحَابِ وَمَكَثْنَا حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ الرَّجُلَ الشَّدِيدَ تُهِمُّهُ نَفْسُهُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ أَهْلَهُ ‏.‏

The above hadith is from the Sahih Muslim collection of hadiths. The value of Sahih Muslim in the Islamic world cannot be overstated. Compiled by the expert hadith scholar Muslim ibn al-Ḥajjāj and completed in the ninth century, it has been a trusted resource for over a millennium. It is one of the six canonical collections, the Kutub al-Sittah, which are Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abu Dawood, Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Sunan an-Nasa’i, and Sunan ibn Majah. Imam Muslim’s work is especially noted for its logical arrangement and integrity. The entire compilation includes approximately 7,459 hadiths, all sorted into 54 coherent books.
