Sahih Muslim: Book 48, Hadith 3
هَذَا مَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَذَكَرَ أَحَادِيثَ مِنْهَا وَقَالَ
رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم
“ إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَالَ إِذَا تَلَقَّانِي عَبْدِي بِشِبْرٍ تَلَقَّيْتُهُ بِذِرَاعٍ وَإِذَا
تَلَقَّانِي بِذِرَاعٍ تَلَقَّيْتُهُ بِبَاعٍ وَإِذَا تَلَقَّانِي بِبَاعٍ أَتَيْتُهُ بِأَسْرَعَ ” .

The above hadith is from the Sahih Muslim collection of hadiths. The compilation known as Sahih Muslim is a fundamental text for Muslims worldwide. Its author, Muslim ibn al-Ḥajjāj, dedicated his scholarly efforts to creating this authoritative work, which was finalized around the year 875. It is a vital part of the Kutub al-Sittah, the six most trusted collections of hadith in Sunni Islam. These six are Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abu Dawood, Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Sunan an-Nasa’i, and Sunan ibn Majah.
