Sahih Muslim: Book 3, Hadith 73

This hadith is narrated by ‘Ubaidullah b. Mu’adh with the same chain of transmitters (but for the words) that he (the Holy Prophet) said: Cleanse yourself with it, and he covered (his face on account of shyness).

وَحَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، فِي هَذَا الإِسْنَادِ نَحْوَهُ وَقَالَ قَالَ ‏
“‏ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ تَطَهَّرِي بِهَا ‏”‏ ‏.‏ وَاسْتَتَرَ ‏.‏

The above hadith is from the Sahih Muslim collection of hadiths. Sahih Muslim is a collection of hadith and sunnah compiled by Islamic scholar Muslim ibn al-Ḥajjāj around the year 875. It is one of the most valued books in Sunni Islam. It is one of 6 of the Kutub al-Sittah.
