Sahih Muslim: Book 22, Hadith 35
“ أُتِيَ اللَّهُ بِعَبْدٍ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ آتَاهُ اللَّهُ مَالاً فَقَالَ لَهُ مَاذَا عَمِلْتَ فِي الدُّنْيَا – قَالَ وَلاَ يَكْتُمُونَ اللَّهَ حَدِيثًا – قَالَ يَا رَبِّ آتَيْتَنِي مَالَكَ فَكُنْتُ أُبَايِعُ النَّاسَ وَكَانَ مِنْ خُلُقِي الْجَوَازُ فَكُنْتُ أَتَيَسَّرُ عَلَى الْمُوسِرِ وَأُنْظِرُ الْمُعْسِرَ . فَقَالَ اللَّهُ أَنَا أَحَقُّ بِذَا مِنْكَ تَجَاوَزُوا عَنْ عَبْدِي ” . فَقَالَ عُقْبَةُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيُّ وَأَبُو مَسْعُودٍ الأَنْصَارِيُّ هَكَذَا سَمِعْنَاهُ مِنْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم .
Sahih Muslim: Book 22, Hadith 35
The above hadith is from the Sahih Muslim collection of hadiths. Imam Muslim ibn al-Ḥajjāj is the scholar responsible for the esteemed compilation titled Sahih Muslim, which he finished around the year 875. This book is a critical component of the Kutub al-Sittah. These six collections are the most important hadith sources for Sunni Muslims and include the works of al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawood, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nasa’i, and ibn Majah. Sahih Muslim is particularly famous for its rigorous methodology and is frequently cited as the second most authentic collection.
