Compiled by the expert hadith scholar Muslim ibn al-Ḥajjāj and completed in the ninth century, it has been a trusted resource for over a millennium. It is one of the six canonical collections, the Kutub al-Sittah, which are Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abu Dawood, Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Sunan an-Nasa’i, and Sunan ibn Majah. Imam Muslim’s work is especially noted for its logical arrangement and integrity. The entire compilation includes approximately 7,459 hadiths, all sorted into 54 coherent books.
