Sahih Muslim: Book 18, Hadith 15
“ مُرْهُ فَلْيُرَاجِعْهَا فَإِذَا طَهَرَتْ فَلْيُطَلِّقْهَا لِطُهْرِهَا ” . قَالَ فَرَاجَعْتُهَا ثُمَّ طَلَّقْتُهَا لِطُهْرِهَا . قُلْتُ فَاعْتَدَدْتَ بِتِلْكَ التَّطْلِيقَةِ الَّتِي طَلَّقْتَ وَهْىَ حَائِضٌ قَالَ مَا لِيَ لاَ أَعْتَدُّ بِهَا وَإِنْ كُنْتُ عَجَزْتُ وَاسْتَحْمَقْتُ .

The above hadith is from the Sahih Muslim collection of hadiths. Within Sunni Islam, the Sahih Muslim holds a position of immense reverence and trust.
