Sahih Muslim: Book 15, Hadith 544
“ إِنِّي حَرَّمْتُ مَا بَيْنَ لاَبَتَىِ الْمَدِينَةِ كَمَا حَرَّمَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ مَكَّةَ ” . قَالَ ثُمَّ كَانَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ يَأْخُذُ – وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَجِدُ – أَحَدَنَا فِي يَدِهِ الطَّيْرُ فَيَفُكُّهُ مِنْ يَدِهِ ثُمَّ يُرْسِلُهُ .

Its author, Muslim ibn al-Ḥajjāj, dedicated his scholarly efforts to creating this authoritative work, which was finalized around the year 875.
