Sahih Muslim: Book 1, Hadith 439

The same hadith has been narrated from A’mash on the authority of the same chain of transmitters with the exception of these words: You would be no more among men (on the Day of Resurrection) but like a white hair on (the body of) a black ox, or like a black hair on (the body of) a white ox, and he made no mention of: a strip on the foreleg of an ass.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، كِلاَهُمَا عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُمَا قَالاَ ‏”‏ مَا أَنْتُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِي النَّاسِ إِلاَّ كَالشَّعْرَةِ الْبَيْضَاءِ فِي الثَّوْرِ الأَسْوَدِ أَوْ كَالشَّعْرَةِ السَّوْدَاءِ فِي الثَّوْرِ الأَبْيَضِ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرَا ‏”‏ أَوْ كَالرَّقْمَةِ فِي ذِرَاعِ الْحِمَارِ ‏”‏ ‏.‏

The above hadith is from the Sahih Muslim collection of hadiths. Compiled by the respected scholar Muslim ibn al-Ḥajjāj in the 9th century, specifically around 875, Sahih Muslim is a cornerstone of Islamic literature. It is one of the six primary books of hadith, the Kutub al-Sittah, which are essential for Sunni Islamic doctrine and law. This particular collection is often placed second only to Sahih al-Bukhari in terms of its authenticity and authority.
