Riyad as-Salihin: Book 14, Hadith 6

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Whenever someone greets me, Allah returns the soul to my body (in the grave) and I return his greeting.”.

وعنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال‏:‏ ‏
“‏ما من أحد يسلم علي إلا رد الله علي روحي حتى أرد عليه السلام‏”‏ ‏(‏‏(‏رواه أبو داود بإسناد صحيح‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏

Riyad as-Salihin, The Gardens of the Righteous is a collection of hadith compiled by Imam Yahya ibn Sharaf al-Nawawi in the 12th century. The work was composed over a 44 year period and consists of around 1900 hadith split into 20 books.
