Jami` at-Tirmidhi: Book 49, Hadith 62
“ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ سَيِّدَا كُهُولِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ مِنَ الأَوَّلِينَ وَالآخِرِينَ مَا خَلاَ النَّبِيِّينَ وَالْمُرْسَلِينَ لاَ تُخْبِرْهُمَا يَا عَلِيُّ ” .

The above hadith is from the Jami` at-Tirmidhi collection of hadiths. Imam al-Tirmidhi’s Jami’ is a seminal 9th-century work and an integral part of the Kutub al-Sittah. These six collections—Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abu Dawood, Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Sunan an-Nasa’i, and Sunan ibn Majah—are the pillars of Sunni hadith scholarship. Al-Tirmidhi’s contribution is especially known for its organization and scope. The entire compilation is structured into 46 comprehensive books that together house a body of more than 4,000 narrations detailing the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad.
