Jami` at-Tirmidhi: Book 48, Hadith 63
“ مَنْ رَأَى مُبْتَلًى فَقَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي عَافَانِي مِمَّا ابْتَلاَكَ بِهِ وَفَضَّلَنِي عَلَى كَثِيرٍ مِمَّنْ خَلَقَ تَفْضِيلاً لَمْ يُصِبْهُ ذَلِكَ الْبَلاَءُ ” . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ .

The above hadith is from the Jami` at-Tirmidhi collection of hadiths. Imam Abu Isa Muhammad ibn Isa al-Tirmidhi is the author behind the Jami at-Tirmidhi, a hadith compilation completed in the 9th century. It is universally acknowledged as one of the six most authentic and important books of hadith in Sunni Islam, a group collectively referred to as the Kutub al-Sittah. This group includes the seminal works of al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawood, al-Nasa’i, and ibn Majah. Al-Tirmidhi’s own Jami is a vast repository of knowledge, containing over 4,000 narrations organized into 46 books.
