Before starting your journey
Allah is the Most Great. Allah is the Most Great. Allah is the Most Great. Glory is to Him Who has provided this for us though we could never have had it by our efforts. Surely, unto our Lord we are returning. O Allah, we ask You on this our journey for goodness and piety, and for works that are pleasing to You. O Allah, lighten this journey for us and make its distance easy for us. O Allah, You are our Companion on the road and the One in Whose care we leave our family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from this journey’s hardships, and from the wicked sights in store and from finding our family and property in misfortune upon returning.
Allāhu akbar, Allāhu akbar, Allāhu akbar, subḥāna alladhī sakhkhara lanā hādhā wa mā kunnā lahu muqrinīn, wa innā ilā rabbinā lamunqalibūn, Allāhumma innā nas’aluka fī safarinā hādhā al-birra wa al-taqwā, wa mina al-ʿamali mā tarḍā, Allāhumma hawwin ʿalaynā safaranā hādhā, waṭwi ʿannā buʿdah, Allāhumma anta al-ṣāḥibu fī al-safar, wa al-khalīfatu fī al-ahl, Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika min waʿthāʾi al-safar, wa kaʾābati al-manẓar, wa sūʾi al-munqalabi fī al-māli wa al-ahl

In Islam, du’a serves as a direct and heartfelt connection between the believer and Allah. It represents a sincere act of worship, humility, and personal devotion. Unlike the fixed five daily prayers, Muslims can make du’a anytime, anywhere, and in any language. Many du’as originate from the Qur’an and Hadith, often recited in Arabic to preserve their sacred meaning.
Muslims turn to du’a to seek guidance, forgiveness, strength during challenges, or to express deep gratitude. The Islamic dua for travel holds special importance—it asks for Allah’s protection, ease, and blessings throughout the journey. This prayer nurtures spiritual mindfulness and reinforces a traveler’s faith in Allah’s mercy and constant presence. Islam teaches that no request is too small or too great for Allah’s compassionate care and attention.
