Many Muslims ask about the correct Duha prayer end time. This special prayer holds great rewards and spiritual benefits. To get the full reward, it’s important to pray within the correct timeframe.
What Is Duha Prayer?
Duha is a voluntary prayer performed in the forenoon, after the sun has risen well above the horizon and before the Dhuhr prayer. Also known by some as Salat al-Ishraq (when prayed shortly after sunrise) or Salat al-Awwabeen (the prayer of the devoted), it is a powerful act of worship that expresses gratitude to Allah and strengthens one’s spiritual connection with Him. The Prophet ﷺ described it as a form of charity for every joint in the body, highlighting its significance despite being easy to perform. Regularly praying Duha is a way to earn immense reward, seek forgiveness, and draw closer to Allah.
When Does Duha Prayer Start?
Duha starts about 15 minutes after sunrise. It is recommended to pray the Duha prayer when the suns heat has become Intense.
Zaid b. Arqam reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went out to the people of Quba’ and saw them observing prayer; upon this he said: The prayer of the penitent should be observed when the young weaned camels feel heat of the sun.
Sahih Muslim (Book 6, Hadith 176)
What Is Duha Prayer End Time?
Duha ends about 10 minutes before Dhuhr. Once the sun reaches its zenith (highest point), the time for Duha ends. So, to be safe, complete it at least 10 minutes before Dhuhr begins.
How to Know the Exact Time?
Check the sunrise and Dhuhr times for your location. Subtract 10 minutes from Dhuhr time. That is your Duha prayer end time for example, if Dhuhr is at 12:30 PM, Duha ends at 12:20PM.
You can pray 2, 4, 6, or even 8 rakats. The Prophet ﷺ most often prayed two or four. There is flexibility in this prayer, which shows Allah’s mercy.
Why Pray Duha?
Abu Dharr reported Allah’s Apostle (ﷺ) as saying:
In the morning charity is due from every bone in the body of every one of you. Every utterance of Allah’s glorification is an act of charity. Every utterance of praise of Him is an act of charity, every utterance of profession of His Oneness is an act of charity, every utterance of profession of His Greatness is an act of charity, enjoining good is an act of charity, forbidding what is distreputable is an act of charity, and two rak’ahs which one prays in the forenoon will suffice.
Sahih Muslim (Book 6, Hadith 101)
This Hadith shows Duha prayer replaces daily charity for every joint in your body.
